Dr. Wafaa Eyaid is a genetics and endocrinology consultant at King Abdullah Specialist Pediatric Hospital. She graduated from the College of Medicine at King Saud University with honors. She obtained her pediatric residency and fellowship in pediatric endocrinology in 1995. She had fellowship in genetic and metabolism in Vancouver and obtained the American Boards in Genetics and metabolic disorders from the John Hopkins Hospital. She has published several papers in collaboration with Harvard University. Dr. Wafaa Eyaid has established the newborn screening program for hereditary metabolic diseases at the National Guard Hospital in 2011.
In 2015, the OMIM applied her name to transaldolase deficiency disorder as she has the largest cohort of these cases.
